This DIY starter kit for home decor is what I use for all my thrifting, flea market and yard sale finds. I’m starting you off with a kit based on painting because it’s the easiest way to turn a piece into your own. Especially if you’ve found some items thrifting. Chances are, it’ll need some upgrades. I’ve painted a thrifted lampshade, wood slices, firewood racks, you name it! These tools are also good for those pieces you have around the house that need a face lift.
Can I also suggest you collect stuff? Wood sticks, empty glass jars, coffee cans – you never know what home decor or craft items you can create. Like a cute fall coffee can owl.
I prefer to make two stops for the DIY starter kit. One is to a home improvement store, and the other to a craft store. By going to those two types of stores, you’ll find all the basic items you’ll need to start your DIY home decor adventures!
