So I’ve been an antique, vintage store and flea market girl for years now. If you count all the antique stores my parents dragged me to when I was little, then my whole life. However, I’ve only recently gotten into thrifting. So since it took one visit to become addicted, I’ll be sharing my thrift store finds every month.
February was a starter month where I ended up purchasing goods that I will be upgrading soon. The only thing I’m keeping as is, is the round wooden tray. The rest of them or just hideous, if you ask my mom!
Hand painted wooden tray $3.99
Wood slice $1.99
Mid century modern Danish style Kalmar teak wood tray $3.99
Wall candle sconces $1.49 each
February Thrift Store Finds Breakdown
Let’s start with the hand painted tray. It has the sweetest hand written note on the back: To Julie Love F.H. Well F.H., Julie didn’t seem to want this tray anymore but I’ll take it, refurbish it and it’ll look beautiful! Look out for a blog post soon, hopefully.
How about another hand written item, the wood slice that says, “The mountains are calling and I must go”. It’s nicely done, but again, someone wasn’t feeling their artwork. While I think the front is cute, I have another idea that I’ll be executing on the back. Again, look for that blog post soon! And just quickly, can we talk about the price – $1.99! The cheapest, plain, wood slice you can find is $5! Score.
The round wooden tray caught my attention because it was simple, had great color differences in the wood and was just plain charming. No marking on the back to make it extra special or tell me anything about the piece. However, I was looking up information for my refurbished mid century modern firewood rack and, no lie, this tray pops up! Online says it’s a mid century modern Danish style Kalmar teak wood tray. I find this super cool and am so glad I came to my senses and didn’t paint it. Since there is no tag, I can’t tell if it’s authentic, but it made this find even cooler!
Now the pair of wall candle sconces ended up being half off due to a tag sale! I know, they are not the cutest things in the world and my mom think’s they’re super ugly, but all I see is potential! For $1.49 I can afford to put some money into them with paint and make them new again. And guess what? That mean’s another blog post coming with the results.
Happy thrifting!
